Chiller Barrel Shell-and-Tube Evaporator for Water-Cooling Systems
The Model C chiller barrel uses a shell-and-tube design with heavy-gauge construction, integral finned tubes and pressure-vessel code compliance for water-cooling applications.
The chiller barrel is a shell-and-tube evaporator designed for water-cooling systems. Within the Torrent range, Model C is intended for chiller barrel applications, while Model F is for fresh water and Model M is for sea water. The unit uses heavy-gauge steel pipe for the shell and heavy-gauge copper or 90/10 cupro-nickel tubes with 26 integral fins per inch to support compact construction and heat transfer performance.
Construction and Design Features
The unit includes a sight glass, liquid service valve and inlet coupling as standard features. Cast water boxes are removable for easier access, with inner epoxy coating and zinc anodes provided for marine applications. Tube sheets are 25 mm thick, using carbon steel for fresh-water applications and stainless steel for marine applications. Manufacturing is stated to comply with ASME, TEMA and Australian Standard AS1210 pressure-vessel codes.
