Built to reject heat reliably in tropical conditions

The Thermal-Matic New Generation 2020 air cooled condenser rejects heat from the refrigerant circuit to ambient air, so your compressor stays inside its envelope and your cold room holds temperature. High-efficiency coils, self-supporting galvanised housing and low-noise axial fans make it a straightforward fit for supermarkets, food processing plants, cold storage warehouses, central kitchens and industrial process cooling across Malaysia.

Every unit is pressure tested to 350–400 psig before it leaves the factory, and RNA holds stock and spares locally so replacement fans, motors and coils are not a six-week wait.

High-efficiency coil

3/8" and 1/2" copper tube, including inner-groove tube, mechanically bonded into corrugated sine-wave aluminium fins with full-depth drawn collars for maximum heat transfer.

Self-supporting housing

Textured, corrosion-resistant electro-galvanised steel sheet. No separate frame needed, so the unit lands lighter on the roof or plinth.

Structural base frame

Structural iron with steel or electro-galvanised legs — 530 mm clearance on vertical air flow models for airflow and service access.

Multi-circuit design

Multiple refrigerant circuits improve efficiency and let one condenser serve more than one compressor or suction group.

Two air flow orientations

Horizontal air flow as standard for wall and plant-room mounting, or vertical air flow for rooftop installations where discharge air must go up and away.

Five refrigerants covered

Rated on R404A and R507, with published correction factors for R407C, R134a and R22 so retrofits size correctly.

Horizontal or vertical air flow

Choose the orientation that suits the site. Horizontal air flow discharges sideways and mounts against a wall or on legs at ground level; vertical air flow discharges upward and suits rooftop plant where recirculation must be avoided.

Condenser selection guide

Select on total heat rejection, not on evaporator capacity. The recommended method is to take the figures from your compressor selection software, then correct for the design temperature difference.

  1. Find total heat rejection

    Total heat rejection is the compressor cooling capacity plus the compressor input power at your design conditions.

  2. Pick the right evaporating temperature to read from

    For a chiller room at 0 °C and above, read the compressor data at −5 °C evaporating. For a freezer room at −15 °C and below, read it at −15 °C evaporating. Reading at the wrong point is the most common cause of an undersized condenser.

    Chiller room example: 34.32 kW + 11.99 kW = 46.31 kW
    Freezer room example: 23.21 kW + 10.35 kW = 33.56 kW
  3. Correct for temperature difference

    Table capacities are published at TD 15 K, which corresponds to roughly 50 °C condensing in a 35 °C ambient. If you are designing for 45 °C condensing, that is TD 10 K, and the required capacity rises by half.

    Required capacity = total heat rejection × 15 ÷ TD
    33.56 kW × 15 ÷ 10 = 50.34 kW → select U202G at 58.7 kW
  4. Apply the refrigerant coefficient

    If you are running R407C, R134a or R22, divide the required capacity by the multiplier in the correction table before selecting. R404A and R507 need no correction.

  5. Check the physical fit

    Confirm length, height and depth against the available plinth or roof space, confirm the line sizes match your inlet and outlet connections, and allow free intake air on the coil face. For applications outside these limits, ask RNA for a custom selection.

Common questions

What capacity range do Thermal-Matic air cooled condensers cover?

The standard range runs from 37.6 kW (128,267 BTU/hr) on the T128G up to 176 kW (600,831 BTU/hr) on the U606G, across 14 models in three series. Capacities are nominal at TD 15 K on R404A. Custom-made condensers are available for capacities outside the standard range.

How do I size an air cooled condenser for a cold room?

Size it on total heat rejection: compressor cooling capacity plus compressor input power. For a chiller room at 0 °C or above, read the compressor data at −5 °C evaporating; for a freezer room at −15 °C or below, read at −15 °C. Then multiply by 15 divided by your design temperature difference, because published capacities are at TD 15 K.

What is TD 15 K and why does it matter?

TD is the temperature difference between the condensing temperature and the ambient air entering the coil. Every capacity in the table assumes 15 K. Designing at a lower TD — for example 45 °C condensing in a 35 °C ambient, which is TD 10 K — means the same duty needs a condenser 50 % larger. Malaysian ambient conditions make this a decision worth checking rather than assuming.

Which refrigerants are these condensers rated for?

Ratings are published on R404A and R507 with a multiplier of 1.00. Use 0.95 for R407C, 0.97 for R134a and 1.02 for R22. Multiply the table capacity by the coefficient to get the corrected duty for your refrigerant.

Can I get a vertical air flow condenser?

Yes. Vertical air flow is an option across the range and is the usual choice for rooftop installations, since upward discharge reduces the risk of hot air recirculating back into the coil. Legs give 530 mm of clearance beneath the unit.

Are corrosion-resistant options available for coastal sites?

Yes. Heresite coating, hydrophilic fins, copper fins, and stainless steel 304 or 316 external panels are all available. For plants near the coast or in food processing environments with washdown chemicals, talk to RNA before selecting — coil protection is far cheaper specified up front than retrofitted.

What is the electrical supply and fan arrangement?

All standard models run on 415 V / 3 phase / 50 Hz. Fan diameters are 450 mm, 500 mm or 630 mm depending on model, with two to six fans per unit. Ziehl-Abegg sickle blade fans and EC fans are available as options where noise or part-load running cost matters.
