What is a Danfoss AVTA Thermostatic Water Valve?

The Danfoss AVTA thermostatically operated water valve automatically regulates water flow according to the temperature detected by its remote sensor.

As the sensor temperature rises, the valve progressively opens and increases cooling-water flow. This makes the AVTA particularly suitable for refrigeration equipment, water-cooled condensers, compressors and industrial processes where stable temperature regulation is required.

Simple & Reliable Temperature Control: AVTA operates without electricity, compressed air or an external controller, helping provide reliable automatic cooling-water regulation.

Key Features & Benefits

Self-Acting Operation No electrical power or external control signal required.
Automatic Water Regulation Water flow increases automatically when sensor temperature rises.
0 – 10 Bar Differential Pressure Suitable for a wide range of cooling-water systems.
Maximum Working Pressure Up to 16 bar working pressure.
Reliable Operation Designed to be insensitive to water-pressure variations and dirt.
Wide Application Range Suitable for refrigeration, compressors and industrial cooling.

Choose the Correct AVTA Charge Type

🔵 Universal Charge

The most versatile AVTA charge option with several available temperature ranges.

Typical ranges:
0 – 30°C
25 – 65°C
50 – 90°C

Sensor size approximately Ø18 × 210 mm. The sensor may be installed where it is warmer or colder than the valve body.

⚡ Mass Charge

Designed with a compact sensor and short response time, making it suitable where quick temperature response is desirable.

Typical range:
25 – 65°C

Sensor size approximately Ø9.5 × 180 mm. The sensor should be installed in an area warmer than the valve body.

🟦 Adsorption Charge

Provides a wide regulating range together with a compact sensor.

Typical range:
10 – 80°C

Sensor size approximately Ø9.5 × 150 mm and offers flexible installation regarding sensor orientation and temperature.

How Does the AVTA Water Valve Work?

1. Sensor detects temperature → The remote bulb continuously senses the equipment or process temperature.

2. Temperature increases → Pressure inside the thermostatic element changes.

3. AVTA valve opens → Additional cooling water is allowed to pass through the valve.

4. Temperature decreases → The valve automatically reduces the cooling-water flow.

The result is automatic proportional water-flow regulation without requiring an electrical controller or solenoid coil.

Quick Model Selection Guide

G3/8″ Connection Choose AVTA10
G1/2″ Connection Choose AVTA15
G3/4″ Connection Choose AVTA20
G1″ Connection Choose AVTA25

Final valve selection should also consider required water flow, temperature regulating range, charge type, pressure conditions and application requirements.
