What is a Danfoss TXV Orifice?

The orifice is the interchangeable metering component inside selected Danfoss thermostatic expansion valves. Correct orifice selection allows the TXV to regulate the quantity of liquid refrigerant entering the evaporator while maintaining the required superheat.

Danfoss T2 / TE2 Orifice Assemblies

T2 and TE2 use exchangeable orifice assemblies. Two configurations are available: standard orifice assemblies and versions designed for the solder adaptor.

Legacy Danfoss Orifice Codes

The following codes appeared in your stock list and are genuine older Danfoss orifice references. They are useful to retain for replacement searches and SEO, but they should not be presented as part of the current TE5–TE55 numbering system.

Replacement Notice: Do not select a modern replacement solely from the old orifice number. Older TE5–TE55 generations used a different numbering system and, in some cases, Danfoss specifies changes to the valve configuration. Verify the complete valve model and operating condition before replacement.

How to Select the Correct Danfoss Orifice

1. Identify the valve family – T2/TE2, TUA/TUAE, TCAE, TE5, TE12, TE20 or TE55.

2. Confirm the refrigerant – orifice capacity varies according to the refrigerant and operating conditions.

3. Determine refrigeration capacity – select the orifice according to the required evaporator load.

4. Check evaporating and condensing conditions – actual valve capacity changes with system operating conditions.

5. Check the complete Danfoss code – similar orifice numbers from different families are not automatically interchangeable.

Selection Reminder: Never select a TXV orifice only by physical appearance or orifice number. Always confirm valve family, refrigerant, operating temperature, pressure conditions and required capacity.
