Copeland OMB Series Oil Management Control (Emerson Alco)
Brand: Copeland
Copeland Emerson ALCO OMB Oil Management Control
Electronic compressor crankcase oil-level protection designed to help maintain proper compressor lubrication in commercial refrigeration and air-conditioning systems.
OMB Series Oil Level Control Compressor Protection 24V Control Commercial RefrigerationReliable Compressor Oil Level Management
The Copeland Emerson ALCO OMB Series Oil Management Control is designed to monitor and protect the oil level in the compressor crankcase.
Adequate lubrication is essential for refrigeration compressor reliability. If insufficient oil remains in the compressor crankcase, internal compressor components may not receive the lubrication required for normal operation.
The OMB provides automatic oil-level management by monitoring the compressor oil level and controlling the supply of replacement oil when required.
How Does the OMB Oil Management Control Work?
Why Choose Copeland OMB?
Copeland OMB Series Models
Copeland currently lists the following standard OMB configurations.
| Model | Item / PCN | Voltage | Configuration | Application |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| OMB JB24 | 065365 | 24 VAC 50/60 Hz |
Junction Box | Standard |
| OMB MO24 | 065366 | 24 VAC 50/60 Hz |
Grommet With Leads | Standard |
OMB JB24 – supplied with a junction-box electrical configuration.
OMB MO24 – supplied with electrical leads through a grommet.
Both are part of the standard 24 V OMB oil-management-control family.
OMB vs OMC – Know the Difference
Copeland's latest oil-management documentation groups the OMB and OMC Series together, but they should not be treated as exactly the same model family.
• Standard compressor applications
• 24 VAC versions
• Junction box or lead-wire configuration
• OMB JB24 / OMB MO24
• Multiple voltage options
• Dual sight-glass versions
• Inlet-strainer versions
• Standard and CO₂ applications

Designed for Refrigeration Compressor Oil Management
Copeland identifies the OMB as particularly suitable for several Copeland Scroll compressor families, including:
Typical Oil Management System
In a typical oil-management system, oil separated from the discharge gas is stored in an oil reservoir. The OMB controls the final supply of oil into the compressor crankcase according to the detected oil level.
Use an Oil Filter for Better System Protection
Copeland recommends installation of an oil filter in the oil inlet line to provide additional protection against contaminants.
This recommendation applies even to oil-management-control configurations that incorporate an inlet strainer.
AOF Series – High Efficiency Oil Filter
AOFD Series – Oil Filter Drier
How to Select the Correct OMB
Why Is Compressor Oil Management Important?
Oil circulates through refrigeration systems together with refrigerant. In systems with long piping or multiple compressors, oil can migrate away from the compressor crankcase.
A properly designed oil management system helps return and maintain the required amount of lubricant in each compressor, supporting reliable compressor operation.
Monitor the oil level. Feed oil when required. Protect the compressor.
