โš™๏ธ Totaline High Pressure Switch

The Totaline PB39 and PB40 High Pressure Switches are compact pressure controls designed for compatible air-conditioning and refrigeration applications.

A high-pressure switch monitors the pressure on the high side of the refrigeration circuit. When pressure rises to the specified OFF pressure, the switch changes electrical state and can be incorporated into the equipment's control circuit to interrupt compressor operation or provide a high-pressure signal.

After the pressure falls to the specified ON pressure, the switch returns to its normal operating state according to the system's control arrangement.

Simple Fixed-Pressure Control

No pressure adjustment is required. Select the correct PB39 or PB40 according to the required ON/OFF pressure settings and the equipment manufacturer's specifications.

๐Ÿ“‹ Available Models

Totaline PB39

ON 276 PSI / OFF 396 PSI High Pressure Fixed Setting Automatic Operation

High-pressure switch with a fixed 396 PSI cut-out and 276 PSI reset / ON pressure.

ON: 276 PSI ≈ 19.0 bar
OFF: 396 PSI ≈ 27.3 bar

Totaline PB40

ON 270 PSI / OFF 360 PSI High Pressure Fixed Setting Automatic Operation

High-pressure switch with a fixed 360 PSI cut-out and 270 PSI reset / ON pressure.

ON: 270 PSI ≈ 18.6 bar
OFF: 360 PSI ≈ 24.8 bar

๐Ÿ”„ How a High Pressure Switch Works

1 System Operating
The refrigeration compressor operates and high-side pressure is monitored.
2 ๐Ÿ“ˆ Pressure Rises
Condensing pressure increases due to the system's operating conditions.
3 โš ๏ธ OFF Point Reached
The pressure switch changes state at its specified high-pressure cut-out point.
4 ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Control Responds
The equipment's properly designed control circuit responds to the pressure-switch signal.
5 ๐Ÿ“‰ Pressure Falls
High-side pressure decreases after the cause of excessive pressure is removed.
6 โœ… ON Point Reached
The switch returns at the specified ON / reset pressure.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Why High Pressure Control Is Important

Abnormally high condensing pressure can occur when a refrigeration or air-conditioning system is operating outside its intended conditions.

๐ŸŒก๏ธ High Condensing Temperature Elevated ambient or condensing conditions can increase discharge-side pressure.
๐ŸŒ€ Condenser Fan Problem Loss or reduction of condenser airflow can cause condensing pressure to rise.
๐Ÿงน Dirty Condenser Restricted heat transfer across the condenser can increase system head pressure.
๐Ÿ’ง Water-Cooled System Issues Insufficient condenser-water flow can contribute to elevated condensing pressure.
โš™๏ธ System Abnormalities Incorrect operating conditions can cause the high-side pressure to exceed its intended range.
๐Ÿ”Œ Control Interlock The pressure switch provides an electrical signal that can be incorporated into the equipment's high-pressure control circuit.

โญ Key Features & Benefits

๐ŸŽฏ Fixed Pressure Setting Factory-set ON and OFF pressure points eliminate the need for field pressure adjustment.
๐Ÿ“ฆ Compact Design Small pressure-switch construction is convenient for installation within compatible HVACR equipment.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Practical Solution Fixed-setting construction provides a straightforward solution where adjustable pressure control is not required.

๐Ÿญ Typical Applications

โ„๏ธ Air Conditioning Systems High-pressure monitoring for compatible air-conditioning equipment.
๐ŸงŠ Commercial Refrigeration Pressure-control applications in compatible commercial refrigeration systems.
โš™๏ธ Condensing Units High-side pressure monitoring for compatible refrigeration condensing units.
๐Ÿช Refrigeration Equipment Replacement pressure control for equipment requiring the specified fixed switching pressures.
๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ Condenser Systems Pressure-responsive control within properly designed condenser and compressor circuits.
๐Ÿ”ง HVACR Service & Repair Useful as a replacement component when the original specifications match PB39 or PB40.

๐Ÿ”ง How to Select PB39 or PB40

Selection Point What to Check
Model Confirm whether the equipment requires PB39 or PB40.
OFF / Cut-Out Pressure PB39 = 396 PSI
PB40 = 360 PSI
ON / Reset Pressure PB39 = 276 PSI
PB40 = 270 PSI
Pressure Connection Confirm the fitting and connection arrangement against the original equipment.
Electrical Connection Confirm wiring arrangement and electrical rating of the exact switch.
System Application Check the equipment manufacturer's pressure-control requirements before installation.
Refrigerant Verify the switch is approved for the refrigerant and operating pressures of the actual system.
โš ๏ธ Important: Do not select a high-pressure switch based only on physical appearance. The ON and OFF pressures must match the equipment specification. Also verify the pressure connection, electrical rating, wiring arrangement and refrigerant/application compatibility before replacement.

๐Ÿ“Œ Understanding ON & OFF Pressure

๐Ÿ”ด OFF Pressure The high-pressure cut-out point. When pressure rises to this value, the switch changes state so the equipment control circuit can respond.
๐ŸŸข ON Pressure The lower reset / return pressure. After pressure falls to this value, the switch returns to its normal operating state according to the control circuit.
PB39: 276 PSI ON → Pressure Rises → 396 PSI OFF

PB40: 270 PSI ON → Pressure Rises → 360 PSI OFF
