The Copeland Emerson ALCO A-AS Suction Accumulator is designed for installation in the suction line between the evaporator and compressor.

Its main function is to help prevent excessive liquid refrigerant from entering the compressor. The accumulator temporarily holds liquid refrigerant while allowing refrigerant vapour to continue toward the compressor.

An internal oil-return arrangement also helps return collected lubricant to the compressor at a controlled rate.

How Does a Suction Accumulator Work?

① Refrigerant Enters Suction vapour together with any excess liquid refrigerant enters the accumulator from the evaporator.
② Liquid Is Collected The accumulator helps separate and temporarily hold excessive liquid away from the compressor suction.
③ Vapour & Oil Return Refrigerant vapour continues toward the compressor while the internal oil-return system assists controlled lubricant return.
